A $586,000 grant from the Utah State Office of Rehabilitation will pay for an in-state training program for community rehabilitation programs serving job seekers with disabilities.

The Center for Employment and Inclusion (CEI) at the Institute for Disability Research, Policy & Practice has offered training to support professionals for years, but in the fall its offerings will integrate the latest research and strategies.

With support from the new training grant, Dr. Tim Riesen and his team will develop a new training program called ACE and also enhance the existing Workplace Supports Program. ACE will be an Association for Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE)-aligned curriculum focused on customized employment, while the Workplace Supports training will continue to serve job coaches supporting individuals with disabilities on the job.

Both programs will incorporate direct instruction, individualized technical assistance, and facilitated communities of practice to promote effective implementation.

Together, the ACE and Workplace Supports trainings will equip employment specialists, job coaches, and direct support professionals with evidence-based strategies and best practices to improve competitive integrated employment outcomes for individuals with disabilities.

You can find the training schedule on the CEI website.
