The Public & School Partnership, located at the Institute for Disability Research, Policy & Practice, has been reinstated and is actively recruiting VISTA members.

The program, which is a local site of the AmeriCorp VISTA program, reopens after it was abruptly terminated at the federal level in May. AmeriCorps programs nationwide were largely dismantled at the time.

“I am excited to be back and make an impact on our community, especially where we are really needed,” said PSP Director Roseline Hill. The program’s mission is alleviating poverty; work that the organization takes seriously. “Funds from the VISTA program bring in more dollar value than the funds we receive from AmeriCorp,” she said. PSP will continue its mission by serving in at least 8 sites in Cache Valley.

In the 2023-24 budget year, the program received $170,000 in Federal grant money. (Numbers for 2024-25 are not yet final.) That same year, PSP generated $754,000 in donations and in-kind contributions to community organizations, through the work of its 15 members. Thanks to those members’ efforts, 48,218 new clients were served in 14 Utah sites. PSP’s VISTA members also mobilized 2,389 volunteers, who contributed 30,000 hours of service at locations throughout Utah.
