Karla’s vision for quality in Early Childhood education has been a passion of hers for many years. She has been dedicated to learning, teaching and training in the field of Early Childhood for over 40 years. Karla has a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Studies with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education. She also has a Utah State Teaching License in Early Childhood Education. She started her career in Early Childhood as a CDA (Child Development Associate) trainer for the state of Utah. She then moved on to teaching and has a wide variety of experiences in the preschool/elementary school setting. She has taught kindergarten for over fifteen years. She was a summer Camp Director at the Jewish Community Center as well as at Rowland Hall elementary school for a combined fifteen years. Her education and experiences led her to her role as an administrator and mentor for other teachers and staff at the Jewish Community Center. She has attended and presented at many professional conferences and seminars. She has had the privilege of being a validator for the National Association for the Education of Young Children and she was involved with the Utah State Quality Improvement Committee for the Division of Child & Family Services; was a board member for the Salt Lake and the Utah Association for the Education of Young Children and was a member of the Advisory Board for Preschool Library-Utah’s Online Library. Her commitment to education for young children has been her life’s work. She was proud to be an employee of the Jewish Community Center and valued her work in programming and HR there. She has completed the Human Resources Certification program at the Nonprofit Academy for Excellence at the University of Utah Continuing Education Department. She retired in the summer of 2025 and has recently been hired as an External Coach for the Pyramid Model through Utah State University.
