Tip of the Month

Transitions can be wild sometimes! Use visual, environmental, and audio clues to signal transition times. For example, you could turn off the lights to get attention, have a sand timer to show how much activity time is left, and have pictures on the floor that show where to stand. Whatever you do, make sure children know your expectations for transitioning.

Program Spotlight: Duchesne School District

The Duchesne School District knows that family is an integral part of implementing the Pyramid Model. They regularly host family engagement activities to get parents excited. “If they know what’s going on in the classroom, they want to be more involved,” Lyndee Rich, a Duchesne preschool teacher said. Their activities have included teaching math games, explaining Tucker Turtle, introducing an app for families, and even going to a corn maze! We love seeing all the ways they involve families!

Project ECHO recap

Project ECHO is a community of practice that meets once a month to hear a 45 min presentation from an expert in childcare, followed by a 30 min case presentation and discussion for a provider seeking recommendations.

Last session Molly Milam taught about friendship skills. One tip she mentioned was to model good behavior. For example, don’t just compliment children, compliment your co-teachers too!

Upcoming Sessions

March 25 1-2:30PM - Friendship Skills Part B

April 22 1-2:30PM - Problem Solving Part A

May 20 1-2:30PM -  Problem Solving Part B

Family Corner
