Aubrey Snyder is a Program Coordinator in the research and training division at the Institute for Disability Research Policy and Practice (IDRPP) at Utah State University. She has a Master of Education in Special Education from the University of Utah, where she focused on postsecondary transition-aged students with extensive support needs. Aubrey’s interests include postsecondary transition, integrated employment, community integration, and adult services. In her current role at the IDRPP, she coordinates projects related to postsecondary transition, adult Home and Community-Based Waiver Services, integrated employment, community-based instruction, and policy. She is also a Charting the LifeCourse Ambassador. She has developed and provided training on person-centered planning, the Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Final Settings Rule, disability policy, community-based instruction, and employment. She has also supported the publication of several peer-reviewed articles related to the validation of fidelity scales for customized employment and self-employment and has written non-peer-reviewed factsheets, briefs, manuals, and reports on postsecondary transition, community integration, HCBS, employment, and person-centered planning. Aubrey has presented at several local and national conferences and serves on various Utah state workgroups regarding the HCBS Final Settings Rule. In addition to her professional background, she has been a part of the disability community her entire life having a twin brother with Down syndrome and hearing impairments. Experiencing either first or second-hand the inequalities people with disabilities are subject to drives her passion for bettering both the disability community and our society as a whole.
