Shonna Hemmis (Ferree) is originally from Frostburg, Maryland. She is currently a graduate student at Penn State University, seeking a Master's degree in Community & Economic Development. She graduated from Frostburg State University with a B.S. in Psychology, with an emphasis in cognitive research. She also majored in Spanish, with an emphasis in translation and linguistics. Following her undergraduate experience, Shonna served with the U.S. Peace Corps from 2011-2013 in Abong-Mbang, Cameroon as a Youth Development Coordinator. Immediately after completing her Peace Corps service, Shonna continued her service experience with the Public & School Partnership's (PSP) AmeriCorps VISTA program at Wilson Elementary in Logan, UT. Shonna then served as PSP's VISTA Leader, PSP's Program Coordinator, and now she serves as PSP's Project Director. Shonna is an avid sports fan; plays soccer in various men's, women's, and co-ed leagues; loves traveling; and is fluent in French and Spanish.
