Shonna Hemmis (Ferree) is originally from Frostburg, Maryland. She received a Master's degree in Community & Economic Development from Penn State University and a B.S. in Psychology, with an emphasis in cognitive research, from Frostburg State University.

Shonna served with the U.S. Peace Corps from 2011-2013 in Abong-Mbang, Cameroon as a Youth Development Coordinator. Immediately after completing her Peace Corps service, Shonna continued her service experience with the Public & School Partnership's (PSP) AmeriCorps VISTA program at Wilson Elementary in Logan, UT. Shonna then served as PSP's VISTA Leader, PSP's Program Coordinator, and now she serves as PSP's Project Director. Shonna is an avid sports fan; plays soccer in various men's, women's, and co-ed leagues; loves traveling; and is fluent in French.
