Supported and Customized Employment Training Project

Project Abstract

This project will provide ongoing training and technical assistance to Utah Community Rehabilitation Programs, individuals with disabilities, families, and other state partners. The ACRE Employment Specialist training is a 40-hour course that provides participants with the knowledge and skills in the following areas, (a) Application of Core Values (b) Disability Legislation (c) Individualized Assessment and Employment/Career Planning (d) Community Research and Job Development (e) Workplace and Related Support. Over the past 5 years, USU has issued 557 ACRE certificates of completion and provided over 128 hours of technical assistance. Over the project, the emphasis on innovation will include increasing technical assistance with Community Employment programs by measuring service efforts using a skill-based competency scale. This measurement process will show the impact of training, and best practice implementation to the overall outcomes such as person-centered assessments, job placement rates, and improved employer partnerships.
