The Healthy Relationships project is a collaboration between the IDRPP and the Utah Developmental Disabilities Council (UDDC). Over the past few years we have worked together to assess the issue of healthy relationships, consent, and abuse prevention for individuals with disabilities. The primary focus of our work is on developing and sharing training, education, and resources for individuals, family members/guardians, and professionals. This work is informed by a statewide needs assessment we completed in 2023-2024.
Following this assessment and report, we focused our efforts on developing trainings, resources, and convening an ECHO (a monthly educational group, focused on this topic which is open to everyone).
You can find information about how to access any of these materials by navigating to our resources or trainings pages. We have multiple resources for adults with disabilities, family members/guardians, and professionals who work with individuals with disabilities to build their awareness and skills around healthy relationships and behaviors. Resources cover consent, boundaries, appropriate behaviors, healthy communication, sexual abuse, exploitation, and other related topics.
