Meet Our Former Student Researchers!
Shanna Peterson graduated from USU in sociology with a certificate in gerontology and is working on her master’s of social work at USU. Her long-term goal is to serve and advocate for the aging population in any capacity.
Emma Horning graduated from Utah State University in Human Development and Family Studies and Sociology. Emma plans to attend graduate school and hopes to become a researcher focused on parent–child relationships and their influence on emerging social- emotional skills.
Lindy Stant is a Program Coordinator for the Center for Mental Health Promotion. She recently graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies, with emphases in family and community services and family finance. She started at the Institute for Disability Research, Policy and Practice as an undergraduate researcher and has enjoyed getting to continue that work for the past 3 years.
Abby Julian is a Youth & Family Educator with the USU Home and Community Extension Department. She graduated from Utah State University in 2025 with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies, along with minors in Communications and Mental Health Advocacy and Awareness. Abby worked for a year and a half at the Center for Mental Health at the Institute for Disability Research, Policy, and Practice during her undergraduate studies
