New Job Coach Training for Utah DSPs

The Effective Job Coach Training is intended for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) funded under the DSPD, EPR and SEI codes for individualized employment services.

The Effective Job Coach training is designed to equip job coaches with essential knowledge and skills to support individuals with disabilities in achieving success in competitive, integrated employment. This self-paced asynchronous training will help job coaches understand and develop skills to

  • Work with employers and employees
  • Conduct a job analysis
  • Implement systematic instruction, and
  • Develop workplace accommodations and assistive technology in the workplace. 

​******DSPs who contract with the State Office of Rehabilitation should not enroll in this course, as it is not a certification recognized by USOR.********

If you contract with Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) to provide job coaching services, please register for the 
Workplace Supports Training instead.

Training Requirements
The Effective Job Coach Training for Utah DSP's is an ansynchronous training for Utah DSPs working under DSPD.  The training takes up to eight hours including the time to complete assignments.  

To earn a certificate of completion, participants must:

  • Pass a knowledge-based competency assessment
  • Demonstrate mastery of key job coach competencies
