I am a 25 year resident of South Jordan, Utah, where I live with my wife, daughter, a rescue dog and two rescue cats. We have two other children who live outside of the home here in Utah. I thrive with volunteer and advocacy work for organizations that are important to us which promote active lifestyles, inclusion, and mental health. I'm a current council member of the Utah Developmental Disabilities Council, and a member of the Legislative Coalition for People with Disabilities. I'm heavily involved in Special Olympics programs.
I am first and foremost an advocate for disability issues. When I was 14 my mother was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Multiple Sclerosis, and I became a caretaker for her and my siblings. My oldest sister was diagnosed with schizophrenia. I was diagnosed with T2D in 2015, and subsequently had permanent lung damage after a hospitalization in the first wave of COVID-19 in April 2020. I have an adult daughter who was born with CP, and an adult son with a serious mental illness for whom I am a legal guardian.
I'm a former political candidate who ran for Utah House District 44, and a 2024 DNC national delegate. My focus is on local issues and helping Utahns address the issues we face day-to-day. Frankly, we need to find our seats at the table and make ourselves part of the conversation. We need a better prioritization of the issues facing Utahns. There are some excellent advocates on both sides of the aisle for disability and mental health legislation, but we have serious work to do for access to healthcare, improving availability of services for people with disabilities, expanding mental health programs, housing, accessibility, availability of work, addressing our homeless, and crisis response.
My past work has been as a Technical Program Manager and Business Analyst emphasizing integrated best practices using Scaled Agile, DevOps, Scrum, Project Management, and Organization Change Management. I am an advocate of Open Leadership. I promote collaboration, training, and awareness programs that reinforce organizational competency and effectiveness. I have 25+ years experience working in process improvement, organizational efficiency, and strategic business operations.
